Superego

Privacy Policy

Superego does not collect, receive, sell, or share your personal data. Recording data is processed and stored only on your Mac.

Effective October 2, 2026

Scope

This policy applies to the Superego macOS app, including its bundled background service and command-line tool.

“We” means the developer of Superego. In this policy, collection means transmitting data off your device so that the developer or a third party can access it beyond the device. Superego does not perform such collection.

Data processed on your Mac

When you explicitly start Recording, Superego processes and stores screen and interaction records used to reconstruct your digital activity, together with local statistics derived from them.

This content is used to create a local activity record for you to review, export, and analyze. Superego does not send it to the developer, advertisers, analytics services, or other third parties.

Data we do not collect

Superego requires no account and contains no advertising, analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking SDKs. We operate no cloud service that receives your recording data.

The app does not read browser history, browser profiles, other tabs, clipboard contents, microphone, camera, location, OCR text, or general Accessibility document text.

System permissions

Superego uses Screen Recording, Accessibility, Input Monitoring, and browser Automation only after you grant access. These permissions support screenshots, current app and window identification, keyboard and pointer activity, and the active tab title and URL in supported browsers.

Browser Automation uses Apple Events locally on your Mac. It does not read browser history, cookies, credentials, profiles, or background tabs. You can revoke permissions at any time in macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Local storage and security

Recordings and settings are stored on your Mac. Superego does not currently add application-level encryption to its recording database or exported files. They may be protected by macOS login security, FileVault, and file-system permissions when you enable those protections.

You can pause Recording, set retention and storage limits, and delete today’s recordings, an individual worklog, or all recordings. Removing the app may not automatically remove its App Group container; use the in-app delete-all control first if you want to remove all recordings.

Exports and tools you choose

Superego writes data to a location you choose only when you explicitly use Offline Export or the bundled command-line tool.

If you later place an export in cloud storage, send it to another person, or process it with other software, that action and the privacy practices of the service or software you choose are outside Superego’s data collection.

Support communications

The Superego app does not automatically send any data. We receive your email address, message, and attachments only when you choose to contact support, and use them only to respond to and handle your request.

Sensitive-content controls

Superego provides rules for sensitive apps, windows, and URLs, and excludes recognizable private-browsing windows by default. Secure Input and Superego’s own windows are always excluded.

These controls cannot guarantee recognition of every sensitive context. If a title, URL, or private-window state is temporarily unavailable, recording may continue with the corresponding metadata marked unavailable. Configure rules for your environment and protect your local recordings accordingly.

Changes to this policy

If a future version adds accounts, sync, cloud storage, crash reporting, analytics, telemetry, or other off-device transmission, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy declaration before releasing that functionality.
